Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Clay County Criminal History, you agree to these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates the tool. That provider handles the query and its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained to prepare and document a response. We keep that message within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive basic technical information when a page loads, including:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • IP address
  • Referring site, when available
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and outside analytics services help us measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Sending a query to the selected search provider
  • Finding and correcting technical faults
  • Operating and improving site performance
  • Measuring which resources visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not host, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. Clay County guidance points to the Sheriff's Records Division, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to public information held by Texas government bodies, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls criminal-history dissemination. Neither statute turns this private site into a record custodian. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices apply to information entered there. We do not set those rules. Read the provider's policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Clay County offices, Texas agencies, courts, legal resources, and search providers. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy policy governs. Review it before supplying personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. It may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring site use
  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving ads
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, concerns records held by government bodies, not data kept by this private site. Subject to applicable privacy and consumer-protection law, you may ask to:

  • Opt out of certain processing
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Obtain a copy of personal information we hold

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy. A new version becomes available here with its effective date, so visitors should review it from time to time.
